Summer uninvited guests! Mosquito Repellent Plant Recommendations

Uninvited mosquitoes in summer with the heat! I would like to introduce plants that look better than spraying unhealthy spray-type mosquito repellent, and can fight mosquitoes.

1. Peppermint

Peppermint, which smells like mint, is known as the representative scent of mosquitoes. Not only mosquitoes but also fleas have a scent that pests hate, so if you leave it in your house or on the veranda, it has the effect of chasing mosquitoes or bugs. Peppermint oil can also be applied to temples, around the back of the ears, neck and wrist during outdoor activities.

2. Geranium

Geranium is a herb plant with a similar scent to roses. It has the effect of emitting rose scents to prevent mosquitoes from approaching within a radius of 3 meters. Geranium is a mosquito repellent plant that can be purchased cheaply on the market, and purple flowers are pretty and are good for physiognomy, so it is good to put on the porch, veranda, or window.

3. Basil

It is said to be effective in killing mosquitoes and mosquito larvae because it contains ingredients such as methanol, Bertorium ether, and carbon tetrachloride. Basil is known to be a plant that not only serves as an eco-friendly mosquito repellent but also helps interior design, and it is also good for cooking because of its unique scent and flavor. Also, the advantage is that basil is not strong enough to grow without resistance.

4. Lavender

Lavender, which has the effect of stabilizing nerves, clearing the head, and recovering from fatigue, is often used as air fresheners or scented candles. The lavender scent is said to be fatal to insects such as mosquitoes and flies. If you put lavender flowers on the side of the bed or on the window frame, you can sleep well without disturbing mosquitoes. Also, applying the lavender solution when bitten by mosquitoes can relieve itching and soothe the skin.

5. Lemon balm

A strong lemon balm is a type of herb with a subtle lemon scent and is often used for aroma treatment. It contains a substance called citronelol, which is used in pest control agents, which repels harmful insects such as mosquitoes and flies. Lemon balm pots can be placed on the porch or veranda to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house.
